Privacy policy

ChatGPTToClaude exists to move your AI history, not to keep it. This page explains exactly what happens to your data, in plain language, in the same order it happens when you use the tool.

What we process, step by step

  • Your export file is parsed in your browser. The ZIP or JSON you upload is read locally on your device. The file itself is never uploaded to our servers.
  • Distilled excerpts are processed for extraction. Batches of conversation text are sent to our API, which forwards them to Anthropic's Claude API to extract context items (projects, preferences, people, decisions). This processing is transient: excerpts are not written to any database and are not retained by us after the request completes. Under Anthropic's commercial API terms, API inputs and outputs are not used to train their models.
  • Extracted items are kept in your browser, not on our servers. The context items and your final document live in your browser's local storage so they survive the payment redirect. You can remove them at any time by clearing site data for chatgpttoclaude.co.
  • Your finished document is yours. It is generated on demand and returned to your browser. We do not keep a copy.

The only things we store

  • Anonymous usage events. When a migration runs we record: direction (e.g. ChatGPT → Claude), conversation count, detected language, and whether it was a free or paid run. No conversation content, no names, no email addresses, no IP-based profiles.
  • Payment records. Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details. Stripe provides us the payment status and receipt reference, and handles your receipt email under its own privacy policy.
  • Aggregate analytics. We use DataFast, a cookie-free analytics service, to count page views and referrers in aggregate. We do not run advertising trackers.

What we never do

  • Store your raw conversations, on any server, for any duration beyond processing a request.
  • Use your data to train AI models, or permit our processors to.
  • Sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
  • Require an account, login, or email address to use the tool.

Your rights (GDPR)

We operate from the European Union and process data under the GDPR. Because we deliberately store almost nothing about you, most rights are satisfied by design: there is no account to access, correct, or port. For anything else — including questions about the anonymous event data or a payment record — contact us and we will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

Legal bases: performance of a contract (running your migration and payment), and legitimate interest (anonymous usage statistics and site security).

Processors we rely on

  • Anthropic — context extraction via the Claude API (transient processing, no training on API data).
  • Stripe — payment processing.
  • Vercel — hosting and content delivery.
  • Supabase — storage of the anonymous usage events described above.
  • DataFast — cookie-free aggregate analytics.
